Now retired, Keith Cassidy has had many varied jobs in his career including Jackaroo, Scientific Assistant, Truck Driver, Ministerial Private Secretary, Aide de Camp, Newsagent, 4WD Trainer and Tour Guide, Fleet Controller, Promotions Officer and Driver Trainer. He’s a bit of a Jack of All Trades.
His driver training skills were honed in the Army Reserve where he spent 12 years running driving courses.
His natural teaching skills, combined with his calm demeanour and good communication skills, have seen him presenting talks on Caravan Safety at numerous caravan expos throughout Qld on behalf of RACQ.
For the last 14 years before retirement, Keith has been responsible for the RACQ’s Mobile Members Centre. That’s their big, yellow promotional semi-trailer that tours the state attending all sorts of community events. As an experienced truck driver, he is well placed to give advice to all road users who share the road with trucks.
Keith’s Caravan Safety Talks are designed to help caravaners understand the importance of weight compliance. They also cover essential safety features such as electric brakes and mirrors. Keith has a few tips for newcomers and experienced caravanners alike when dealing with other road users. And he has some advice for those intending to “do the lap”.
