Country Swing and Slow Dance

The basics of country swing and slow dance are easy to master! All you need are some partnering basics, some turns, dips and spins and some simple slow dance moves. Blend them all together and you’ll be dancing the night away in no time!

Singles and couples are welcome. Ages 12 and above.

  • Friday, 3 May  – 1.30pm-2.30pm
  • Saturday, 4 May – 11.00am -12.00pm
  • Sunday, 5 May -11.00am – 12.00pm

Maximum 20 people per session.

Minimum age: 12 yrs

Melissa Wyatt

Polish up your dance moves,  ready for the Dinner under the Stars!  Grab you hubby or partner to learn some new country swing moves to be a stand out on the dancefloor.

We welcome Melissa Wyatt, Owner and Studio Principal of Townsville’s Premier dance studio - Dancensations. Melissa will be offering a range of classes across the festival weekend and all classes can be attended as a single person or couple. Melissa began her dance life at the age of 6 at the Ann Roberts School of Dance. She completed exams in tap, modern and classical ballet and completed her FATD Modern Teachers Exams in 1999 and her Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies in 2020. In 2000 Melissa began competitive ballroom dancing and competed successfully in the amateur and professional field for 16 years.
